Interface

As with any raw converter combined with an image browser Raw Shooter has a folder view, thumbnail view, large preview of a selected image and tool tabs.
Folder and thumbnail views can three positions – on the left, above or below, or can be hidden from view altogether. All the options accessible through an icon on the upper panel (raw shooter has no traditional menu). The size of the folder and thumbnail windows can also be modified – their borders are not fixed.

The left side of the top panel is given to file manager and screen layout controls. There’s another panel above the thumbnail window with a number of controls related to it. Below this window, you find the camera info.

The biggest space is given to the Preview, of course. Moreover, according to the image orientation and your preferences you can organize the layout, as was mentioned earlier. Above the preview you have snapshot controls, straighten and crop tools; below is zoom (with a glider and a drop down menu) with hand and color-code controls. That is the Preview is accompanied with the tools for the very first steps of the workflow preceding the basic correction.

The last on the right of the screen is a column with the tools panel with tabs, navigator, and a histogram with x/y and rgb information.

The distribution of the tools on the tabs is also done in accordance with the workflow logic, as I think. Every tab has a number of icon controls again for the tools on this tab.

The cursor staying on the preview of the image can have an accompanying it rgb reader switched on and off by a drop down menu with the right mouse click. The same menu can regulate magnifier size and zoom.

Speaking about the interface in general I can praise it for a clear logic and convenience of the workflow. The movement on the screen is going in one direction all the time – from left to right, from choosing an image for correction to its conversion.
