Harry’s Filters, the collection of Photoshop filters withing one interface from Harald Heim, is updated to version 3.01. “Harry’s Filters 3 lets you choose the appropriate effect without hassling through different menus and dialogs” - the plug-in site states. The current edition is a collection of 69 effects filters combined into a single free Windows plugin, with the new version supporting Vista and simplifying the installation process. An earlier version remains available for Mac OS 9.
The Windows PhotoFreebies plugin package has also been updated for Vista and benefits from the addition of the Plugin Installer tool. PhotoFreebies provides such capabilities as the ability to turn an image into grayscale or sepia tints, make a transparent layer fully opaque, or desaturate a photo. New in this release is Chroma Negative, which inverts the colors of an image without making it negative. New in Version 3 is also a Play feature that produces animations with random parameters at a certain frame rate and speed. The animations provide an impressive demonstration of the effects of the different filters and are an easy way to discover interesting effect settings.
