Retouch Pro has a new contest. You are asked to convert a photo to an oil painting using a “digital palette knife technique.”
AKVIS Software has offered the prize – a copy of its new software, AKVIS Artwork 2.0. This program takes a photo and turns it into a virtual painting. You can either convert it to an oil painting or give it a comics effect.
Adobe offers Lightroom and ACR ‘release candidates’

Adobe has released ‘Release Candidates’ of Photoshop Lightroom 2.3 and Camera Raw 5.3 for immediate download from Adobe Labs. Both provide additional Raw support for the Nikon D3X and Olympus E-30 DSLRs. Adobe Photoshop Lightroomis also now available in 8 new languages. The ‘release candidate’ label means the downloads are ‘well tested’ but not yet final versions.

Adobe has released updates to its Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2. Camera Raw 5.1 provides raw support to the 15 cameras that were included in the 4.6 update for CS3 users. Lightroom 2.1 has now been released officially, improving Photoshop integration and keyword migration from Lightroom. [Read more]
Adobe Photoshop CS4 now available

Adobe has announced the availability of Photoshop Creative Suite 4. Priced at US$699, the CS4 version features a unified tabbed interface, enhanced color correction and non-destructive editing tools. To speed up operations, it features OpenGL support and 64-bit support (although only for Windows users). Along with Photoshop CS4, Adobe has also announced the availability of the entire Creative Suite 4 product family.
