Fancy frames by Akvis LLC Frame Suite

Akvis LLC announced the release of Frame Suite v.1.0, their collection of edge effects for digital photos. Apart from a collection of presets accomponying the program, there's a possibility of creating custom frames, combining the existing presets with new effects, and saving the new presets for later use.
You can use a image fragment for a frame pattern, add effects, change colors, and even make a transparent frame and use it as a separate layer.
The program is working as a plug-in for a variety of photoediting programs or a standalone in both Windows and Macintosh OS.

Phase One Capture One

Capture One is a Phase One product, a converter digital raw images. Capture One is oriented on batch processing, which orientation is clearly seen in the program interface and the workflow. But let’s go step by step through it.
Supported cameras and raw formats
Capture One’s range of supported cameras is somewhat limited. The most represented brands is Canon with 15 cameras, then come Nicon, Konica Minolta, and Olympus. Finally Pentax, Fuji, Epson, and, naturally, Phase One have one or two cameras represented in the list. And such limits can defer many a user from Capture One.
As for the destination file formats, Capture One allows the converted images to saved into .tiff or .jpeg file formats. When choosing .tiff you can specify the bit depth as well.
The original raw files are not modified by Capture One, you are saving their copies with all convertion settings and adjustments applied. An interesting feature of Capture One is the possibility of working with multiple versions of the same image simultaniously.
Adobe’s Camera Raw and DNG conveter updates

Adobe has released updates for its DNG Converter and Camera Raw plug-ins, supporting Panasonic's recently-launched Lumix DMC-FZ8 camera. The updated plug-ins are available for Photoshop CS3, Elements 4.01 for Mac and Elements 5.0 for Windows systems but won't work with CS2.

The plug-in, letting to create repeat patterns, is now fully compatible with CS3.

A free update of a popular Apple based image editor Apertureis available for download. Aperture 1.5.3 is compatible with all Mac computer line including both desctop and portable computers. The support of raw files form major camera mekers is another feature now accessible for Aperture users.

Adobe’s Creative Suite 3 Events and Activities

Adobe offers a series of initiatives providing focus on the new capabilities of the Creative Suite 3 release.
The new Adobe Creative Suite 3 with its 12 new standalone applications and six new suites makes it a difficult to quickly assimilate. Taking it into account, Adobe will be hosting a range of live and on-demand production demonstrations and background sessions over the next six months, using Adobe's marketing theme of "creative license." There's a number of activities planned.
